Temple Construction

It is with a deep sense of gratitude and humility that we come to you dear patron with a request, the first such from us. Our Ashram, Mahaprakash Math, at 23/1A Naktala Road, Kolkata-700047, is being renovated and on behalf of all disciples of our beloved Guruji, Sri Sri 108 Dayal Baba, we seek your financial support in the completion of this KMC sanctioned project.

The erstwhile Ashram building was essentially spartan with just a row of four or five rooms and it was there that Guruji spent the last few years of his Earthly Leela. It was never enough to accommodate visiting shishyas of his, who came from far and wide to seek his blessings, to tell him about their problems, and to await his guidance. And, Baba as he truly was to all his children, felt sad-sad that he could not ask them to stay back for a day or two since there was no space to accommodate them. At the most three or four people could live in the cramped Ashram, and all of them were discliples who looked after his frugal daily needs.

Who was Baba? Impossible to describe him just like that. Suffice it to say that he was perhaps the greatest Yogi in India of his times. An immensely powerful sadhu, whose tales can keep the uninitiated spellbound as we all had been over the decades we were blessed to be near him. He could, if he wanted, do the logically impossible, but he never could mint money. And that’s why our Ashram had forever stayed so austere.

Today, and with his blessings, we have embarked on a project to make the Ashram bigger and more liveable, should more people want to come and stay for a few days. We want to erase the sadness that Guruji often felt because of this. The proposed Ashram complex will retain Guruji’s Samadhi Mandir and his bedroom, in their original state, while making way for better guest room facilities and a prayer hall among other things. It will be nothing lavish, but hopefully, it will be adequate enough to fulfil Baba’s wishes.

We invite you therefore to be part of this effort. Please donate freely for a noble cause. Every rupee thus collected will go towards construction of the Ashram, brick by brick. Your contribution means a world to us. Do come over, if you feel like, after the project is finished, and spend some quality time in the Ashram of one of India’s greatest ever sages.

Thank you
