About Gurudeva Sri Sri 108 Dayal Baba
Sri Sri 108 Dayal Baba was born in Barishal District of Bangladesh, to a Brahmin family of Bharadwaj Gotra. His initial name was Sri Gour Goswami. His mother’s name was Smt. Rajlaxmi Devi. When he was a small child of seven years, he was taken away from his parents, to a monastery(named Sri-Angan, in Faridpur) by his Gurudev Sri Sri Gopibandhu Brahmachari, a monk of the Mahanam Sampradaya. There he was raised as a renunciate monk and was renamed as Sri Dayalbandhu Brahmachari. Noticing the divine inspiration & potential of his young disciple, Sri Sri Gopibandhu-ji gave him permission to spread the holy name & initiate others into the path of God-realization. Thus Sri Sri 108 Dayal Baba became a Guru, in his adolescent years.
He initiated numerous people, irrespective of caste, creed and religion. He used to enter the lofty state of Samadhi on a daily basis and explain subtle spiritual ideas in simple, down-to-earth conversations. People were drawn to him like bees to a blooming flower. Some came to him, attracted by his divine countenance, others were pulled by his kindness and compassion.
He started the Mahaprakash Math (Society) and Dayal Sangha (Trust) to further his altruistic ideas of enlightenment, upliftment of society and humanitarian service. After inspiring and teaching spiritual concepts for many years, Sri Sri 108 Dayal Baba entered Maha-Samadhi on 20th April 2001.
